Great American Tales Told Here Once upon a time, before wires carried our thoughts hither and yon, people simply told stories -- folklore, legends and the like. American Folklore is a return of sorts to those days of oral history. Sandra Mizumoto Posey, a Ph.D. candidate in folklore at UCLA (with the help of UCLA professor Michael Owen Jones), has created a series of people profiles -- people not normally written about in mainstream media outlets. The site also offers chat, a message forum, and links to great sites about folklore itself as well as places with a decidedly folksy bent, such as Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and the Drive-In Theater Page. It's like a crunchy-granola version of People -- and we love that. |
